I. Introduction
In keeping with our role as a source of information, intellectual development, and enrichment for the community, the Cazenovia Public Library provides access to the Internet. Internet sites can change content rapidly and unpredictably. Consequently, in offering Internet access, it is impractical, if not impossible, for the Library Staff to control access to appropriate sites. Users are hereby notified that they are responsible for the sites they reach. As is the case with all other library materials, any restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the child's parent or legal guardian.

It is the responsibility of the parents or legal guardians to monitor their child while they are using these tools. The Library also reserves the right to limit time spent on the computers to one hour while others are waiting. It is also prohibited to engage in illegal activities or to access illegal materials while using the Library’s computers. Prospective users of the Library's computer system are asked to read the Library's Internet Policy and Rules of Computer Use. Art Exhibits/Gallery Policy
Gallery space is available for exhibits of artwork particularly of local and regional interest. Cazenovia Public Library (CPL) provides this space to feature art, as part of the library’s cultural mission.  The library is a central community gathering place, and its easy public accessibility and numerous hours of operation make CPL’s space an advantageous public venue.  Having artwork in the library also enhances the library’s environment for patrons, and helps to promote both art and artists.  While all artwork will be considered, this space is not provided for commercial, nor for specifically religious or political purposes.  Cazenovia Public Library makes the final decision on the content and arrangement of all Gallery Exhibits accepted.

Once an artist has been selected to display artwork at CPL, exhibitors must comply with the dates/times established for setting up and taking down artwork.  Assistance will be provided, but the artist or artist’s representative must be present and assist with both hanging and taking down the exhibit.

Other exhibiting logistics & policies are:

  • Library sponsored or cosponsored exhibits take precedence over other exhibits at all times and the library reserves the right to, without notice, to cancel the use of the display areas by outside exhibitors if the Library Director or Library Board of Trustees determines that the display space is needed for library purposes.
  • Artwork must be ready for exhibition with two-dimensional work having proper matting and / or framing.
  • CPL provides supplies for hanging. No additional hooks, nails, or other fasteners may be used to attach art to the walls of the Library.
  • Artists are invited to host/sponsor an opening reception; all costs associated with a reception (including invitations, food and beverages) will be borne by the artists.
  • Artists are encouraged to participate in a lecture or demonstration during the show. This will be arranged between the artists and the library staff.
  • The Library cannot be held responsible for artworks that are not picked up by the designated date after exhibition.
Exhibits must remain throughout the duration of the dates scheduled.
  • In return for the opportunity to exhibit at the library, CPL requests a commission of 15% for any artwork sold.  The commission on any artwork sold will be placed into the library’s museum fund.
  • No prices should be listed on wall labels. Separate price lists may be printed and displayed on wall or on information table in gallery.
  • CPL cannot be responsible for reimbursement or replacement of lost, stolen, or damaged items and does not insure exhibits. The Library encourages the artist/lender to obtain a rider on his or her insurance policy for the duration of the exhibit. The Artists/lenders will be required to complete and sign a waiver/release of Library liability before any works of art are exhibited.
  • The Library coordinates display for all exhibits and as a courtesy to exhibitors; the Library will facilitate publicity about the exhibit and may include some promotion such as press releases to local and regional newspapers, calendars, and brochures.  If an artist contacts, on his/her own, any local media, the artist must inform the library.
