In 1793, John Lincklaen, Samuel Forman, and a party of settlers arrived at the foot of Cazenovia Lake hoping to create a prosperous community. This May, the Library will celebrate the 225th anniversary of the town’s founding.
On Tuesday, May 8 the Library will partner with Lorenzo State Historic Site to present “The Founding of Cazenovia,” a presentation by Russell Grills. The local historian and former Lorenzo Site Director will discuss the founding and early history of Cazenovia. Participants will hear the history of the town from the steps of its Lincklaen’s former home so visitors should bring a lawn chair to sit in. The lecture will be held at 7:00 pm. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Library Community Room.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early for a FREE tour of the mansion between 6-7pm, generously provided by the Lorenzo.
