GRAND TOUR SOUVENIRS, 1894
In 1894, Robert James Hubbard and his son, Rob embarked on a Grand Tour of Egypt, the Middle East, and Europe. Along the way, he collected mementos and souvenirs of his journey to present to the Library upon his return. This collection includes Nummulites from the Grand Pyramid, lava from Mt. Etna, olive leaves from the Garden of Gethsemane, and remnants of other notable locations.
Back home, Hubbard wished to share the cultures of the world with members of his small farming community. Treasures from his journey remain on display in the Grand Tour/Egyptian Room.
