Introduction

When John Lincklaen settled the Cazenovia Tract in 1793, he envisioned a thriving city on the lake; a center of culture and commerce to rival the larger economic centers of the East. And while circumstances would limit Cazenovia’s industrial growth, nevertheless, it fulfilled its destiny as a haven for gracious living and respite from the hustle and bustle of larger cities. The Cazenovia Public Library invites you to join us in celebrating Cazenovia’s 225th anniversary with a walking tour of some of the village’s most notable and elegant buildings. We hope you’ll enjoy this stroll back to a simpler, more elegant time with us.
